Day 1Arrival In Hue
Day 2Hue, Imperial City, And Hue Cuisine (B, L, D)
8:00 AM: Departure for the visit of Thanh Toan Bridge – a covered wooden bridge with Yin and Yang tiles built in 1717. It is a peaceful destination for those seeking serenity. Visit its local market and the Agriculture Museum where children can better understand the culture of flooded rice fields.
Visit the Imperial City - the seat of the Nguyen Dynasty, the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam. It is composed of 3 parts: The Citadel (Thanh Noi), the Imperial City (Hoang Thanh), and the Forbidden Purple City (Cam Thanh). You will visit various main monuments: The Flag Tower, 9 cannons, the South Gate, the Thai Hoa Palace, the Thai Dich Lake, nine urns of the Nguyen Dynasty, the Forbidden Purple City, and the Temple of Worship of the Nguyen Kings.
Lunch at a vegetarian restaurant. You will discover the deeply rooted Buddhist traditions in the local cuisine.
Afternoon: Visit Thien Mu Pagoda – one of the iconic places in Hue. Visit its octagonal tower, 21 meters high, built-in 1601, representing the 7 reincarnations of Buddha.
The program continues with the Dong Ba local market, its seafood, vegetables, custom-made clothes, and the famous conical hats of Hue.
Then, join a culinary tour to experience authentic local life by tasting typical street food. You move away from the tourist area and the tranquility of the night reveals the hidden soul of the imperial city of Hue.
As you turn a corner, food stalls on the sidewalks appear, and you are enveloped in a scent that teases your appetite. Stop at a knowledgeable restaurant; the soybean sprout pancakes, lemongrass grilled pork skewers will not leave you indifferent. This culinary tour will end sweetly in a festival of colors and flavors, promising a sweet night.
Overnight in Hue
Day 3Hue Royal Tombs - Ngu My Thanh Village (B, L)
Depart upstream of the Perfume River, visit the tomb of Emperor Minh Mang, an architectural complex that harmoniously showcases nature and imperial religious works. It consists of 40 structures in an area of 26 hectares dominated by mountains and rivers. The design of the tomb was planned during the reign of Minh Mang (1820-1840), and the tomb was built later by his successor, King Thieu Tri, with the assistance of ten thousand workers and artisans.
Next, visit the tomb of King Tu Duc, one of the most beautiful sites in Hue. It is a model of traditional Vietnamese art. It is also an opportunity to learn about the history of the Nguyen Dynasty and the French colonial invasion. Photo break at the craft workshop of incense and conical hats in Thuy Xuan. En route to Hue with a stop at Bellevue Hill for a panoramic view of the Perfume River.
Afternoon: Discover Ngu My Thanh village, famous for its colorful murals. After exploring the village, get ready for a variety of exciting water activities. Get an introduction to local fishing techniques with a fisherman and learn how to catch shrimp and fish. Enjoy a unique activity by participating in the hunting of Tria, a very popular jellyfish in the region. Grill freshly caught shrimp and fish directly on the boat for a delicious tasting. Try a stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) session through the mangroves while admiring the sunset over the lagoon.
Day 4Hue By Train To Danang - My Son Holy Land (B, L)
Train ride from Hue to Danang, Visit to the My Son Sanctuary
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by car to Hue train station for the train from Hue to Danang, an unusual experience that allows you to have a magnificent view of Lang Co Beach before entering the Hai Van Tunnel.
The driver will pick you up at Danang station. Then, depart for My Son, the most significant Cham archaeological site in Vietnam, located 40 km from Hoi An. Explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which served as the Champa Kingdom's religious and political capital from the 4th to the 13th century. Witness the impressive sanctuary towers, featuring 70 preserved structures of red brick and stone that highlight the kingdom's Hindu spiritual roots.
Walk through these Cham Towers and enjoy the opportunity to see traditional Champa dances before returning to Hoi An.
Day 5Hoi An Ancient Quarter And Countryside, Local Life (B, L)
8:30 AM: Visit of Tra Que village, then board a boat and cruise to the river estuary. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes along both banks and scenes of local life. Our boat sails to the Cua Dai estuary to the Co Co River, then to Mau Bay to visit the mangrove covered with Nipa palm trees. Try casting a net, learn to paddle on the round bamboo sampan. Discover the daily life of the locals and explore the surroundings on a traditional woven bamboo round sampan. You will have the opportunity to engage in crab fishing using the technique of local fishermen. Return to the homestay for a cooking class featuring typical Hoi An specialties: Fried spring rolls & Crispy pancakes known as "Banh Xeo". Enjoy a tasting of the dishes you've prepared.
Afternoon: Walking tour to explore Hoi An - the main trading port of Annam in the 17th and 18th centuries. Today, it preserves its ancient charm and is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll along narrow streets lined with houses of Chinese, Japanese, and French architecture, and visit:
- The Japanese Covered Bridge, erected in the 17th century, its original character carefully preserved.
- Phuc Kien Temple, built in the 17th century, once the meeting place for residents, traders from the Chinese community coming from Fujian.
- An old wooden house of rich merchants: Tan Ky or Phung Hung or Quan Thang
- A Museum: either the Ceramic Museum or the Cultural Museum of Sa Huynh...
- The local fish market.
Day 6Hoi An Beach – Departure (B)
Free time for a beach stay at Cua Dai or An Bang Beach, which is about 5 kilometers from the old town of Hoi An. Transfer to the airport for the departure flight. End of the tour.
