7:00 AM: Departure by collective bus to Sapa.

12:30 PM: Lunch at a restaurant in Sapa.

1:30 PM: Transfer by vehicle to Y Linh Ho in the Muong Hoa Valley, enjoying beautiful views surrounding the village of Y Linh Ho, the stronghold of the Black Hmong.

You'll follow a trail that crosses the stream dividing the valley surrounded by terraced rice fields. As you descend, you'll encounter friendly Hmong women and children living in houses nestled in the valley.

For the more adventurous, you can ascend along the Buffalo Path trail, less touristy and offering breathtaking landscapes. For those looking for an easier hike, opt for a leisurely stroll along the Muong Hoa River, from the Y Linh Ho valley (Black Hmong) to the Dzay village of Ta Van.

Lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your hike to Lao Chai village. Take a short break at a batik workshop to observe the techniques of Black Hmong batik art painting. You'll meet a craftsman from the village to learn more about the beeswax technique used in decorating traditional indigo clothing of the Hmong. This special encounter is an excellent opportunity to learn a little about their daily life and culture. Then, visit a family that produces incense cones on the way to Ta Van.

You'll spend the night in a bungalow, with a beautiful view of the rice fields and the stream.

Optional: Your hosts will offer you a foot bath with medicinal plants to help you recover from your day's efforts, a pure moment of well-being!

8:00 AM: A short car ride to the Black Hmong village of Ma Tra, where you will embark on an easy-level walk towards the Red Dao village of Ta Phin. This journey will take you through a stunning valley with beautiful terraced rice fields. You will have the chance to encounter ethnic groups such as the Black Hmong and Red Dao. Of Chinese origin, they settled in Vietnam in the 11th century, establishing themselves at high altitudes, far from the modern world. This helps them preserve their traditions, language, and above all, their ancestral way of life. You will make a stop to visit a family and explore a Hmong school in the village of Ma Tra. After 2-3 hours of hiking, you will arrive at the Red Dao village of Ta Phin. Along the way, you may encounter locals to better understand their life and culture.

Optional: In the village of Ta Phin, you can relax by experiencing a foot bath with medicinal plants, a way to reward yourself for your efforts during this morning.

Transfer by car back to the town of Sapa. Lunch at a restaurant.

Around 2:00 PM: The shuttle bus Dcar Limousine will pick you up. Arrival in Hanoi around 8:30 PM.

Useful Information

  • The best period to admire the terraced rice fields is from late June to September. The terraced rice fields are cultivated in May and harvested in early September.

  • During the winter season (December to January), the weather is often cold and foggy early in the morning and late in the afternoon, and sometimes all day long on certain days.

  • For your safety: bring hiking shoes, a flashlight, and insect repellent for mosquitoes.

  • The train to Sapa is very traditional with a soft bed, but there can be a lot of vibrations and sometimes it can be noisy and uncomfortable for some guests. Bring earplugs for a better sleep.

  • The limousine shuttle will pick up tourists from various hotels in Hanoi, so you'll need to wait your turn patiently.
